Rabat

We stopped in Rabat, the capital of Morocco on the way to Chefchaouen.  A combination of Roman columns transplanted from Volubilis, a 14th c. Mosque and the mausoleum of 20th c. Kings, where we bumped into a group of Israeli tourists.  And a stop at Chella,  medieval necropolis that had, prior to Muslim occupation, been occupied by Romans and before that Phoenicians.  Back to 10th grade history!  It feels so unusual to be in a country practicing monotheism where the imprint of Jewish culture seems palpable but where Christianity is nowhere to be found.

Cats are everywhere in Morocco.  They are thought to have 7 souls and everyone feeds them.
